Advise please. #1
Hello all. I have just joined your forum as I intend to get an aquarium. I would like help to find out if a side board I have would be strong enough to hold an aquarium of about four feet long. It is solid pine with a solid pine top, but I do not know how to calculate its suitability or indeed to adapt it. I can not attach a photo as it keeps saying file to large. Thank you.

Domestic furniture is not made to support such a weight ( a four-foot tank full of water will weigh around 200 kilogrammes or more) and would need some form of bracing internally to support it safely. I can't advise on that and the safest thing to do is use an aquarium cabinet designed for the purpose.
