Re: sociable hermit crab or not..?
#2
Hermit crabs don't fight, neither are they sociable.. Hermit crabs are opportunistic scavengers, so the problem comes when the crab moults and has to hide away while new shell hardens off, a smaller crab is unlikely to be able to attack a larger crab, but the other way round could result in the smaller crab becoming food. It is best to stick to the same species and similar sizes and not to have too many for the area available, which gives a moulting crab more chance of survival if its tankmates are well fed and have plenty of space to explore without finding anyone who is hiding.
