Tank looks like a swamp #1
Hello :)

My boyfriend and I set up out new tank yesterday but the water is murky brown still after being left over night.

My boyfriend wants to put the filter on the try and clear the water but I am concerned that all that murk will damage it.

I'm sure it has come from the gravel we have. Boyfriend set up our tank and i am sure he didn't rinse it first...

I made that mistake when I first set up my tank. Drain it, shovel the gravel out and wash it. Even if it says its "prewashed" it'll still be filthy.

You won't damage the filter if you turn it on, but you'll get through yards of fine floss if you try and filter it out that way.

Thanks ^^

I had a feeling we would have to do that. Another fun job for today :D

Re: Tank looks like a swamp #4
Ran it by him and apparently it is normal for the gravel we bought (it is plant nutrient). So it looks like we are going to have to wait it out
