Re: Breeding Bristlenose #31
Yes, I think I will side-step that one. I will give the owner a call tomorrow.

At the time, I thought ?40 was a bit steep.

I would much rather breed the super reds.

Re: Breeding Bristlenose #34
The piebald are the result of the parents being from a Red and Albino I think even though my original 3 are brown, one of the females has the Albino Gene from her parent so produces albino babies and possibly the piebald there are two females so not quite sure which babies are from which

Re: Breeding Bristlenose #35
Hi,

All of the fry, about 50 of them, are common BN. Shame!

My lfs have got 4 very small super reds in. I have reserved two of them. However, they do look a little orange! Is this normal?

Also, my albino male is in the cave fanning again! No eggs and no sign of a female. Any thoughts?

Re: Breeding Bristlenose #36
I have just sold all of my bristlenose fry; the 1-2 inch ones and someone has reserved the 50+ three week old fry. I am having no problems in moving them on!!

This should help the water quality!!

I have also bought two juvenile super reds.

More success!

There are more eggs from the pair that produced BN fry 3 and a half weeks ago.

Re: Breeding Bristlenose #38
They have been busy and you too you were lucky to get a buyer to take all of them, hope you got a good price I have two tanks with youngens for sale and keep getting buyers asking about them, but their tanks are usually unsuitable so I wont sell them to them some have new tanks which are cycling or they want to put them in with aggressive fish like green terror cichlids or African cichlids I have sold some but I certainly wouldn't make a business selling fish but know I have to sell them or run the risk of being over run with Bristlenose plecs may have no choice but to take them the petshop so I don't know who buys them and hope they go to decent homes

Re: Breeding Bristlenose #39
Indeed. I know them and they are keen to take the others. They have many tanks and want to grow them out to sell - win win. I will sell the next lot to them as well as I haven't got space for them.

Yes, I got a good price. I don't do it for money though; it is just a hobby usually confined to weekends due to my work commitments.

My next project is trying to breed the super reds. If I manage that, I will post the pictures.
