I have one Cichlid that stays at the bottom of my tank most of the time. All of my Cichlids are very young and less than 1.5 inches long, however this one is even smaller. He seems to hide in the back of the tank on the bottom but will come out to eat and seems to be fine but then he goes and lays on the bottom again. I've only had the fish in the tank for two weeks and he's been doing this for over a week. Is he OK?

I posted a picture of him laying on the bottom, hopefully you can see it as I'm not sure I did it right.

pH, gH and kH and temperature too.

With the food advised by members here then there should be no problem with food.

If the water readings are okay too then there's only 1 possibility. The fish is stressed and there're not enough cave/hiding place.

From the pic I could tell that he's a male Pseu.Saulosi and he's not blue means he has been pinned down by the dominant male, he seems to digged that area to make a temporary home. Does your tank has enough cave per fish? It's very essential to have enough cave for every fish in Mbuna tank.

He eats fine and right now he is swimming around with all the others just fine. There are many hiding places in the tank as there are many rocks and slate built on the rocks for many caves.

He might be just fine but since he is doing something different than all the others I was concerned.

Yep everything must be fine then. Maybe he just like laying down

Just keep an eye when they grow up. When they're matured, they'll be more aggressive even if they're kept together since juvenile. That's when you really have to make sure every fish has their own cave :-d

He looked great last night but found him dead this morning. No other fish bothered him and he looked in perfect shape. Something else must have been wrong with him.

Do you notice anything wrong around his belly?
Can you confirm kH and gH? Sometimes high pH water can have low kH and gH.
What have you been feeding your fish recently?

Poorly fish do tend to keep to themselves often hanging out/hovering away from tank mates. The other fish seem to sense when one is ill and will often avoid it (I've seen this with shoaling fish such as Tetra before now).

As Nathan said, he may have just been poorly when you stocked him. Now you are stocked by the way, consider QT for any future new fish if you do add any more. This stops any potential illness or disease wiping out an otherwise healthy and active tank.
