Hi all,

So the fry has somehow survived being eaten with no help or seperation from the community tank. Can u tell me Wat it is. The pics aren't very good I'm afraid but it has to be either an oto or cherry barb

It's far more likely to be a Cherry Barb as I said before. Otos don't breed particularly easily in community tanks and the fry are so very tiny they wouldn't be likely to find the right food or evade capture by other fish in the tank.

Looking at the pic (though it isn't too clear) the fish is the wrong shape and colour for an Oto and it appears to have scales - Otos are scaleless.

So.... Turns out the baby is a killifish! I only had them for a few days before I took them back because they were aggressive towards the barbs. Maybe this was why?

The baby is getting bigger by the day but I've noticed he has a big bend in his tail. Is this normal when there growing?

No, sadly not. He should look like an adult in miniature It's probably a genetic defect.
