In my tropical tank I have 4 Kuhlis (soon to be 5) and eight Harlequin Rasboras plus an Amano Shrimp and 30++ Cherry Red shrimp which breed like you just wouldn't belive. Over the weekend I've found 3 dead cherrys but lots are fit and well and the Amano is better than ever. Do they just not live very long?
Probably not - the Otos would be OK and your Barbs wouldn't bother adult Cherry Shrimp, but any baby shrimplets would be eaten as fast as they hatch. If you were happy to just have your initial adult stock of shrimps and know the colony would not increase then you could add some.
