plants from another tank, dirty ones? #1
Hi all if i took some plants from a tank which had been left with no fish in it, whats the best way to sterilise them should i use boiling water from kettle and scrub as i know the last 2 fish in the tank died, and werent removed right awway? will boiling water clean sterilise them 100 %?

Either way I don't know if boiling water is best - what temp does plastic melt at?

Someone suggested using the steraliser you use for babys bottles for cleaning plastic plants, never tried it myself though - probably because I don't have plastic plants!

Justa good rinse and a bit of a scrub under the tap should do, our own tap water contains chlorine after all.

Dont think jasuk meant actually boil them, more using boiled water to sterilize

i would say just a good scrub would be fine. if they are live plants then i wouldn't do anything with them. as ur likly to kill the plant.

They are plastic, ive cleaned them scrubbed in boilin hot water, seems to have done the job cheers.

yeh shouldnt be a problem. i personally prefer real plants. although always gets pulled apart in my tank.
