Hi Guys

Its been a while since I was last on hear but need to pick your brains on adding salt to my pond,

I went to the lfs last week picked up some British salt (food grade on the bag) but when I returned home realised there are no instructions on how to add the salt and also how much I need to add

All advise is appreciated.

Is there any reason as to why you wish to add salt?

Useful as a dip/bath sometimes or to treat some ailments but not commonly needed.

I had some white cotton wool on one of my fish and was advised to use Eradic ? think thats what it was called, then advise to leave 12 days and add salt ?

So advise from the LFS is the only reason.

Any ideas ?

Have you got any pics of the affected fish? If it's fungal then salt could help as salt and fungus do not make good bedfellows. If it isn't fungus then it could be a bacterial infection in which case salt may not help. Salt has its place but its effectiveness is debatable in the sense that it is often debated in various circles on t'interweb, for example here - salt is number 2

Some more info on the run up to the problem, what you've done so far and how it looks now would help And current water test results for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and PH/GH/KH if possible
