Underwater lighting #1
Has anyone used underwater lighting?

I'm not thinking glaringly bright unnaturally colourful lighting...

I am hoping that there is a nice subtle 'backlighting' method of showing up my beautiful bogwood from behind.

Has anyone come across a tasteful way to do this? Silly question probably, but has anyone set up a tube on the back of the bank to shine through the glass?

Will underwater lighting be unfair to shy fish? Or could I combine it with nice dark areas for them?

Exploring lots of options just now and got lots of questions to ask...

Thanks folks!

You can get arios with coloured leds, they come in white as well as the more colourful options? Someone gave me a set of three 'rocks' with colour changing leds in them but the fish didn't like them, they freaked out a bit You could probably get just white ones though. Had a quick look on ebay, there are quite a few different styles:

Or you could try some moonlight spotlights aimed at the wood? I've got some like this:

They produce this sort of effect so the fish still have dark areas to lurk in:

Hi,

I bought a pack of 3 rock lights from e-bay...now you know I can't do this....my nephews' coming 'round soon, I'll get him to show me AGAIN!

The're not very expensive and they do look just like small rocks.

I have 3 x small blue ones and a slightly larger white one and they are quite affective.

If you put in: Aquarium LED lights - loads of different ones come up.

The one I bought mine from is :

www.aquariumledlighting.co.uk,

he has a shop on e-bay as well. We're pleased with our lights.

It's not a very good photo, but if you look on my profile page, there's a photo underneath the one of our tank.

It's a bit dark though!!
