Disaster pt 2 #1
hey its me again! I set up a quarantine tank (its about 8 gallons) last week, i left the water for a couple of days while the temp got to what i wanted. The tank contains a fluval 1 plus filter and a hydor thermomitor. On sat i went and got some gold zebra danios (6). However, today i found two dead! Anyone know what could possibly have caused it? I'm a bit gutted now! So if anyone could help,
thanks

Re: Disaster pt 2 #2
hi Athers,

it could be because the quarantine tank hasnt cycled yet. Or it may just be that they've come in with diseases (the reason for a quarantine tank)

Try and take some tests of the water and let us know the results.

Yes, Jenny is right. You QT is fairly unstable at the moment. Do you have a main tank? It is usually easier to cycle a new filter in the main tank along side the established one. When it is ready, you can tranfers it across to the QT and you have an instant mature setup. Another complication is that requirements for fish differs from species to species so you need to know your pH to make sure they are happy in that range.

Best to get your water tested for ammonia, nitrIte and pH and go from there.
