Looking for a silent filter system - advice please #1
Hi

first let me say hello - lots of good info here - been lurking for a while :)

I'm the proud owner of a aquamarine 900 (175 lts) and it came with a marisys 240 filtration system. This is very noisy and I'm getting pressure to change it to something that does not make any noise (the wife)

Tank just got it's live rock so want to get the new filter soon so it's there during the cycle process

looking for suggestions please

thanks

Hi and welcome,

Most external filters are quiet but none are truely silent, I have a fluval 305 which is in the tank cupboard and don't hear it and i just turn the flow down to agitate the surface. Alot of people use or recommend eheim filters sorry can'tbe of any more help.

maidenhead aquatics have a nice range of external filters
i recently purchased their own branded one the aquamanta efx 200
but they have various size models suitable for freshwater and marine

i can honestly say that its silent
i cant even hear it working so sometimes i have to put hand under the spray bar to see if it is.

hope this helps

Hi
i too have the Aquamarine 900 - have had it for nearly 2 years now.
I swapped the Marisys for the Aquaone 2250uv filter - have been very happy with it so far - it's not silent but a damn sight quieter than the Marisys - also it has built in uv which is a bonus. Only down side is you will have to add a hang-on skimmer to the tank and they are not silent either....every silver lining has a cloud!!
