Rainbowfish? #1
Hi
Can anyone please ID this fish? I think it's a rainbowfish but I'm not sure what type, it does look like pictures I've seen of dwarf rainbowfish but I'm not sure! It's about an inch and a half long.
Thanks!

Yup, my faves although I don't keep them anymore. Dwarf Neon Rainbow fish, this looks like a female (yellow/orange fins - bit tricky to see the colours) males have blood red fins and get slightly more deep bodied.

Grows to about 6cm, shoaling, so an absolute min of 6 but do far better in groups of 10 or more IMHO. Prefers neutral to slightly harder water up to pH 7.5. A good sized shoal can be housed in 120 litres as a species tank only.

Thanks for the info Violet They really are beautiful fish. Two of them came within the big tank full I recently 'aquired' and now I've got the stocking issues sorted out (thanks for your help with that as well!! ) I'm wanting to get them some companions but needed to be sure exactly what they are!
