Good thread! Ch57evy - love the names of your barbs!

My first two clown loaches are called Bert and Ernie after the pair on Sesame Street. Bert is quite grumpy compared with Ernie who is more playful!

My next two clown loaches are called Ben and Jerry after the icecream makers who make my favourite icecream ever called phish food. Oh dear.

My final clown loach is called Scampi because he was so thin and tiny when I first got him (he's bulked up a lot now). So I now have five in total all with really nonsense names.

And my pearl gourami is called Grumps because she chases everyone around defending her territory.

Sadly can't name my cardinal tetras as I can't tell them apart!

I wonder what all this says about my state of mind?

Fizz

Re: Just for a bit of fun :o) What names have you given your fishy friends #4
Most of mine came ready named and I didn't bother to change them, hence there is no 'theme' to my names! Smirnoff, Chips, Pixie, Dilys, Rocket, Ren and Winston Goldy came with names. Howie is named after Howard (Howard on here Howard) as he was adopted from Howard's friend who hadn't named him. Dave was named by Mr S - something along the lines of me saying what shall we call the new fish, he said I dunno, Dave? So Dave it is. Albie is short for A Little B'er, Francis's curly gills made him look like he was wearing a ruff when he was smaller so Francis as in Francis Drake. Quantum is named after Quantum of Solace as my friend came over the day I bought him and we watched Quantum of Solace.

So there you go

Good thread ch57evy.

I have two Humbug Damsels called Scrooge and Mint, Two Percula Clowns called Nemo (of course) and Pearl, a Midas Blenny called Benny, a cleaner shrimp called Jaques, a Scarlet Hermit called Crazy Joe (from Disneys shark tale), and lastly a Blue Starfish called Patrick. Thats the crew so far.

Stuart.

I gave up naming them as I've now bred, bought, and sold over 200 fish... but here's a few names we started using generically for different breeds:

Bananas, Custard, Sunshine, Bart, Lisa, Maggie (L. Caeruleus)
The Four Aces (Ps. Acei) except they turned into 8...
Frisky, Ginge, Titch (Ps. Saulosi)
Bangers & Mash (Banggai Cardinals)
Fronty (Frontosa)
Bumble (Ps. Lombardoi)
Preggers (any pregnant fish )
Fish & Chips (M. Chipokae)
Neon & Electro (M. Johannii)

My late lamented goldfish were Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Albert Camus. (Simone was a better footballer than Albert despite his namesake having played in goal for Algiers).
I'm afraid all my other fish are just 'the danios' and 'the shelldwellers' apart from one of the shelldwellers called Arthur who has the personality of a friend's Jack Russell dog called Arthur and I can always tell her apart from the other 50 or so

Hi!

The only one I have a name for is my Bristlenose plec. Was originally called Bertie but then I realise it was probably a she as it didn't have all the bristly bits! So now she's called Bertha I'll post a pic one day then someone can tell me for definite.

I have small shoals of other fish but they don't have names as they're pretty indistinguishable. So they're just my little buddies.
