hi bud a corn snake would be fine and a verry good intraduction in keeping snakes as ther have a verry good temprement your best of getting a sub adult not a baby to avoud eny feeding problems in the young ones get a pure carolina corn snake not eny of the fancy colore morfs for the same resons as fancy goldfish and hibrids the more you mess with the geanes the more probs you get
as for housing a verry sucure lid is a must they are supreem escape artists heating wise its not that dificult ceramic heaters are the best thing to used with a mesh cage around them to avoud burns coupled with a thermostat to controle the temp they love water so a good size bowl changed every couple of days or sooner if they foule the water it needs to be big enough for them to fully submerge in climbing branches are good and other then that ther pretty much easy as pie to look affter requring little attention eny more info needed just ask bud ill find some products online for you thet would be sutable
I think a toddler and a snake in the same house would be fine as long as you take precautions (I'd be more worried about the snake than the toddler ) but if Mrs FA is expecting any time in the future then she shouldn't handle snakes.
I think a trip to the LFS / LSS is on the cards tomorrow
I'll let you know how I get on. I hope they arnt to hard on me in the shop, they are very protective of their snakes and lizards in there, bordering on arrogant lol. Wish they were the same with the fish
usualy the case find out what they recomedt get a list and post it hear i can tell you if its bs or not lol number one rule is protect all heat sorses with mesh cages and dont ever use heat mats or rocks good luck bud
I'm back This plan is still on the go but might take a little while to come to fruition. Going to do the decorating and get the carpets in upstairs first. How sensible and grown up of me! It does mean I will have plenty of time to do research etc.
