Re: compatible fish? #21
So sorry to hear about your goldies

Your clown loaches were big to begin with - they are usually sold as very small juveniles of about an inch or so. My lfs does sell bigger clown loaches too, but I like do like watching them grow up!

I'm sorry we've been the bearers of not so good news. If there is any way we can help please let us know.

Fizz

P.s I'm hopeless with technology so really couldn't help with the photo thingy.

There is a guide to uploading pics to the site - have a read of this and see if that helps sort the picture problem

Hi melanie

Just from the pic it looks very much like your algae problem is indeed Blue-green algae. The fish won't touch it so my best advice - from someone who has been battling with the dreaded BGA for a while now - use a glass safe scourer to wipe it off the glass - I use an old toothbrush for getting it off the wood and plants and awkward corners, and then hoover as much of it up as possible as you mentioned when doing a water change. If you continue to have a problem with it in the longer term, come back and I've got some more useful tips up my sleeve!

And thanks for the pic - I'll let someone else tell you what the fish is - I'm not so good at identification!

from thoes pictures it looks liek you have a pair of sucking loach there. they can be very aggressive as they mature so watch for round open wounds on other fish, they loaces may need to be segragated. i'm not 100% on the fish but thats waht it looks like to me.

dazzler.

Re: compatible fish? #28
GAE (golden algae eater?) i have seen albino common plecos sold as this as well as albime sucking loach to my knowledge there is not a fish called a golden algae eater.

sucking loaches will eat lots of algae when they are younger but will develope a more meaty taste as they mature.

it was just my obsetvation of the photographs you posted. as the fish does not look like any form of sucker mouth cat fish or even a siamise algae eater (flying fox) the angle of the mouth and the over all shape of the fish looks like a sucking loach. can you post a better pic of the said fish and if i am wrong i'll hold my hands up.

is that a better pic of him? if so you have a sucking loach. and as said before you will need to watch for aggression as he matures.
