i would advise that you purchase the pocket expert guide to marine fishes by scott w. michael. its only about ?13 on eBay but its an excellent encyclopedia on marine fish/the diet/care and compatibility. cant find watchman goby in it but some fish have so many common names. have you got its scientific name and/or a picture then ill find it for you.
hi kieran i will look out for that book thanks, i know that i could only have 2 gobies together in my old tank as it was smaller but as this is alot bigger i was wondering if i could have one more . i know they are terrotorial as my watchman is funny to watch as he opens his mouth to chase off the other goby quite funny to watch..... here is a picture of each goby this is merric
that looks like a decorated goby but i could be wronge. does it feed by sifting the sand like a dyson lol. if so the book says it will behave aggressively towards its own kind or closely related species and recommends thats it be kept singly unless a mated pair. hope thats any help.
no he doesnt eat by sifting he just chucks it in his mouth lol loves his food... he ate one of my shrimp once when i was moving the rocks about think he was stressed. he is in the tank with another goby they get on ok ,they live opposite sides of the tank in their holes they dug gobys are fasinating to watch
Do your two current gobies fight a lot? Or is it rare. I would personally err on the safe side and stay at 2 only because your current 2 sound like there pretty much established. But that?s just because im over cautious. Great fish to watch.
thanks suey....... no they dont fight if merric goes near duncans home he opens his mouth wide and merric goes... think i will keep to just two as you say be on the safe side my tank is harmonius at mo thanks kieran
