How regularly do you test your water? What and how much do you feed your fish? I think you've mentioned it before but could you run us through your usual maintenance routine also please? Thanks

ETA- I just read your other 'filter' post and am just checking... am I right in thinking you've just added another fish to the tank recently? How big is the new addition? It could be that the extra fish has increased the bioload and the filter is struggling to cope while it builds up more bacteria. Also, if you do have another fish, has your feeding routine (amount/regularity etc) changed at all?

the fish is very small.

that i have added

i change 25-30 percent of the water

fill back up using the tetra aqua safe

i do this once a week i also rinse or change if it is really really dirty the white filter

i have an undergravel filter and the main one

i am about to do the water change again i did about 15percent this morning as i had to go to work

stil looks unhappy tho

i am thinkin about an external filter?

what should i do after the water change ?

Don't throw your sponges away , just rinse them ( in tank water not under the tap ! )

Ok , there's your reason .

You are adding tap water ( untreated ) to the tank , before you add the dechlorinator.

This is killing your filter bacteria , because it is full of chlorine and chloramines.

You need to fill a bucket with water , and add the Aquasafe to that ... then mix it up and let it stand for an hour or so before you add it to the tank.

Whoever told you to add it to the tank was dead wrong and has caused this i suspect. Was it the LFS ?

Yes , don't change any more water until you have a bucket to mix it in .
