The dreading blanket weed, no ones safe from it :D
You can get electronic devices but the decent ones start at ?100. Unforuntly chemicals are best approach unless your willing to spend alot in one.
Look for "Cloverleaf Blanketweed Anwear" suppose to be the best one of the market and where i work, ive had many good reports on it and it is safe for sturgeon. However it doesnt kill whats already it there just controls it and stops it coming back or growing more, so you'll need to remove as much as possible
I put a few rocks in a five gallon bucket for ballast and then gently pull the hair algae to the bucket hand over hand. The algae sticks to itself fairly well, and hence it's possible to get most of the algae in a fairly short time.
Fredrick, what electronic device prevents or kills attached algae?
I saw the Blagdon device for the first time this weekend and didn't believe the blurb on the box so left it. All that talk of disrupting calcium ions and having to wrap the wire around the pump hose didn't ring true. I would be interested to know if it actually works...
Up until now I have just been manually removing the stuff, but I would like an easier life Might just try the Hydra International stuff mentioned here.
