Re: LFS's #11
sounds like a fab idea to have a proper listings feature with ratings and comments.

I know p@h gets a bad rap, and I havent found them incredibly knowledgable but they are atleast friendly and try to help, however the one 'proper' fish shop locally is manned by grumpyassocks and their tanks are seriously overcrammed full of sad looking fish.

Re: LFS's #12
p@h do get a bad rep, however i think this is very dependant on who looks after their dept for them, a good hobbyist can actually have a good one

dobbies are the same, but again there a good and bad, i remember one month in pfk where they were a featured shop!

do we need to be carefu here about slagging off the bad ones...what if they come back on us?

Re: LFS's #14
Its not about slagging off bad ones or even praising good ones... its about giving an honest opinion of the service, quality of the livestock and conditions, knowledge of the staff and general pricing information.

There is no need to state the staff were as thick as two short planks, which is insulting, but to say they "i was advised i could keep 12 silver sharks in a goldfish bowl, so the advise was obviously flawed' is acceptable and not insulting just informative.

It will take some marshalling no doubt as i'm sure some will use this as a sounding board, but hopefully the majority of us will respect it.

Even if shops do read these, it should help them to look at their methodoligy.

Cheers

Re: LFS's #15
Yeah what bluegourami said is spot on. We don't want to get sued so we need to be careful how we word stuff. Saying things like 'my experience of this shop was not very good' is better than saying 'it's staffed by idiots who don't know the head end of a fish from the bum end'

I've never bought fish or fish stuff from P@H, I have a very reliable knowledgeable LFS so I always shop there

Re: LFS's #20
My lFS is Walker Aquatics in Bilston. They are good for acessories, a little pricey but not to bad. Unfortunately they haven't got a lot of fish stock as the shop isn't huge.

Recommended though
