Pleco Identification - Help please? #1
Hello,

A few months ago we purchase a couple of small (25mm)shy cat fish which I beileved were "Fin-Tailed Sino" or something like that from P**s at H*me.

After a couple of months, one of the fish started to grow and grow and grow. Over the recent weeks the second one has also grown but to a lesser degree but no doubt will catch up.

The larger fish is approximately 12cm long and I have attached a photo to help.

Can anyone tell me what it is and how much bigger it may grow as our tank is very small (8 gallons)

Thanks.

Jeff

not all that on tropicals, but my guess would be they are feather-fin synodontis and will get bigger yet and you will def need more space for them
will look them up, meantime someone else may be along

meanwhile you could google synodontis eupterus

Cathies 100% bob on, synodontis eupterus.
Fantastic fish. (Am i giving away my soft spot for synos?)
To be dead honest with you Jeff your 8 gallon tank is too small for one let alone two. These fish can get upto and above 7", you also have the possibility of them not getting on as they mature, for this reason i only keep 1 syno per tank.
You need a much bigger tank or you need to bite the bullet and return the fish.
Srry if you didn't want to hear this.
Best advise - big tank 1 featherfin and an oscar!!

Thanks for the information.

I must admit they are endearing little beggars who will come up to the side of the tank to see you.

They appear to play quite a bit and to be truthful as we don't really want a bigger tank then they have to go.

Thanks for the help and spot-on advice.

No worries Jeff glad to help, sorry that they didn't fit in as they are triffic fish.
Best of luck with your tank.
