Re: Help #1
We have had the same problem this week, starting to clear again now, think its due to the sun and heavy rain we've had this week, and our pond is very well filtered and has lots of oxygen so can only put it down to this. Our water was crystal clear in a glass but looked really murky in the pond..so think it is just the weather.

Re: ok made my hole now what #2
My hubby built our pond last year too at the grand old age of 45...this is after buying the mid life crisis Harley Davidson and deciding it wasn't what it was cracked up to be so sold the Harley and built the pond and bought a Beemer instead!!

I love the pond and YES we had to make it bigger and deeper this year and I (the Mrs love nothing better than sitting next to the pond with a nice glass of wine listening to the waterfall and watching the fish....but I deserve it cos I did help to build it too!! but now he still hankering over another motorbike MEN!!!!

GOODY5555 love your pond WELL DONE!!

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #3
Many thanks again for all your help.

Have used the Cockney koi products now for advanced parasites as we noticed the large koi started rubbing itself on the bottom of the pond, after only one dose they have had a massive improvement and have added 2nd dose after 5 days ALL the fish have made a full recovery,I really cannot THANK you enough as without your help and advice I am sure we would have lost them all.
Haven't got any concrete around pond but since using the cockney koi treatments the PH has gone back to 7.6 so not sure of the Medisin P was causing the rise in PH ??... it is such a fantastic sight seeing them all swimming about happy as Larry again

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #4
WELL.... what can I say apart from you have made my fishes VERY HAPPY finally got rid of the ick and fungus and fins look alot healthier,I cannot Thank you enough for your help.

Think I had also under estimated how many gallons I have in my pond as I treated for 20 gallons more and that did the trick. Have put UV back on today and still doing the tests..can you suggest anything to keep the PH down as it is back up to 8.2 again!! I used water balance last week but it doesn't stay down and obviously my fish would be even more happy if it stayed down to around 7. My tap water is 6.8 but it just creeps back up again.

All the other tests Ammonia.0 , Nitrate.0 Nitrite 0, could it be the medication that is causing the PH problem?

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #5
Still got problems..have been using the Medisin P every 3 days. UV is off but fish are looking worse, now have fin rot and one has fungus on its tail, the four goldfish are looking quite bad although still eating well.

The larger ghost koi are flashing on and off but show no other signs of anything can't see any white spot.

I'm beginning to wonder if we have more gallons in the pond than we thought. We measured it at 360 gallons,by seeing how long it took to fill a gallon with the hose, then timed the time it took to fill the pond.
It is an add shape like a kidney but is a metre wide and 3.5 ft deep on one half and 3ft deep in the other and 8ft in length.

It doesnt colour the water blue in the pond when we are using the medisin p so are we maybe not using enough??

All the water tests are fine..trace still apart from PH is 7.6 everytime I get it at 7 it creeps back up.

I have now finished the whole bottle of medizin P so could anyone suggest any other treatment for ick,and fungus etc??

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #6
They are starting to look better now!! will add more med tomorrow and see how it goes....how long do I need to keep up with the treatment to make sure it doesn't come back, should I do another partial water change at end of treatment or during the next 10 days?

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #7
Used the medizin P as I had just bought it,after seeing a post about it ,someone recommended it.The fish seem to be still happy and feeding well, only at 3 teaspoons of salt will add another teaspoon per gallon tomorrow, like you say don't really want to go to maximum level, will try this for another 10 days, need to add another dose in 4 days if it doesn't clear it up fully I will try the one you recommended, the gold fish colours seem to be getting brighter again today, still haven't seen any signs of the ich on the ghost koi.,keeping my fingers and toes crossed You have been so helpful,Thankyou.

Re: Lemon Goldfish and ghost koi jumping out the water WHY??? #8
Well thanks again for your reply, your help has been really appreciated

Did the 100 gallon water change, and another treatment as you suggested, also added another 100 teaspoons of salt so now at 3 teaspoons a gallon (maximum is 3x tablespoons per gal) so have had a busy evening they all seem happy the PH after change and med went down from 8 to 7.6 so keeping my fingers crossed that it is working

Re: sturgeon gone ! #9
Aww sorry to hear about your fish, sounds like the others have been scared by something.

We don't like the nets either but we had problem with Seagulls pecking the fish last year so we put up a pegola over the pond and put netting on the top and haven't had any problems since..maybe this would help you, have also heard that a wire a foot high round the pond will deter heron.

Thanks, will try the other medicine and 100 gal water change.
Fish still feeding well!! Tests still good, the ick looks more raised and thicker today !! Not sure if thats good or bad,but at least they are all still eating.

The goldfish that didn't look good seems more alert today!
