Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #1
hmm could be a few things.
could be a predetor. im also thinking that the fluctuations in the temp might result in a possible death with the lack of oxygen etc and the stress involved.

im thinkin the goby/dragonet could have sumthin to do with its diet cause they do have a reputation of starving due to lack of pods

get some pics up. id luv to see the tank, gonna be puttin sum of ma own up soon :)

hello folks

okay i am gettin really fed up o the marisys. the noise is just startin to get to me a bit now and im now having problems with the overflow not priming and nearly flooding the house. going home tonight to give the paristactic pump a clean (never realised i could do this) from the advice of aquaone.

anyhoo was just wonderin, Chops (or anyone else) could u just stick up a couple of pics up of how ur tank looks with the externel pump an skimmer just for some ideas??? (love ma pics ha ha)

was thinking of getting the mce 300 skimmer and rena xp2 with there smart heater (hoping this may help with the recent temp problems iv been having). any thoughts anyone or recomendations?

Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #5
hiya
its best to start with RO from the very beginnig IMO meens less problems later on. just fill the tank up to temp add the recomended salt and turns the powerheads on to mix. in regards to the marisys its best to take all the contents out. i started with just filter floss in tray 1. 100g purigin and 100g rowaphos in tray 2. and bout 1kg of live rock in reasonably big bits in tray 3. the only thing i kept was the filter floss. handy tip is to keep the balls in till u add ur live rock rubble just so u havent got very much water displacement.

hope that helps

im not a total expert but from lots and lots of reading tap water is just a big no at any point for reef keeping

Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #6
cool thanks for your help

well im gettin lots of fine bubbles justnow! like i said the instructions were rubbish and it never gave u a standard settings for it! but ill hold on and see what happens! the water looks pretty much crystal clear in the tank and the chamber so suppose it cant to any harm to hold out and see what happens in a few weeks

P.S it would be still begreat if other folk could leave info on when there skimmers started to kick in and under what circumstances

cheers folk

Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #7
the live rock was out of water for about 40 to 50 mins and was transported by car. loadsa stuff on it which made the water really cloudy. then when i addedd the sand it went worse but this soon settled and the water is now clear. ther was loads os skin on the surface and this eventualy has all went with the powerheads stirring it all up.

im just hoping iv set up the skimmer correct coz it looks like u would need alot of waste to be being produced before it would get up to the skimmer collection cup.

the cup is very low down and the airstone very high up!but still doesnt look like ther is enough water in the chamber(hope this all makes sense)

so how fine should the bubbles be????

argh!!!!!!lol

Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #8
hello
im having problems with the skimmer and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips or share ther experience with ther skimmer.

i have just set up the tank. water has been running for about a week and a half and addedd the live rock 4 days ago. so in theory the skimmer should have beded in by now? and although ther is no livestock in the tank to produce waste i did expect ther to be something produced from the amount of gunk that came off of the live rock and live sand that i put in, but not a sign of anything even in the reaction chamber! except from detrius at the bottom.

also what should the bubbles being produced be like? lots of fine ones or fewer big bubbles? absolutely clueless coz instructions were rubbish!!

any help would be fantastic!!!

p.s i have played about with it a bit but still no luck. cheers
