Re: How much live rock do I need? #1
yep tested and all seems fine.....its only been a bloody week! lol. Does it have anything to do with what state the live rock was in when I purchased it?

Re: How much live rock do I need? #2
I have noticed today that I am getting a brown covering over the nice white bits on my live rock...not on the purple bits. If I remember rightly that all part of the cycling process????

Re: How much live rock do I need? #3
Not 100% sure really cos i've always only had a v. small nano tank before and this one gives me a little more room. I'd like a nice reef setup with corals and fish. Not sure how much of what I can fit in there....I haven't set up a tank for so long I feel right out of the loop!

Re: How much live rock do I need? #5
ok thanks for that. Another thing I was going to ask is I have about 10KG of rock from my small nano tank that I was going to put into this new one. The only problem is that I have shed loads of what I think are bristle worms in that rock and wanted to know if its a problem as I am going to unavoidably introduce them in my tank....I hate them lol.

How much live rock do I need? #6
I have just started to cycle my 155L tank (assume that 155L is still a nano tank??) and wanted to know how much live rock is required for that volume of water? I was intending for the live rock to be my main source of filtration so i need to get it right. I only have about 4.5KG in there at the moment.

Thanks

Re: Skimmer Problems? #7
Thanks guys. The bubble stop foam is on the outlet pipe but they just seem to get blown out the bottom. I must admit I don't really understand how it should be set up correctly as I have never had a skimmer before. In the centre of the collection cup is a conical spout. Should be bubbles be bubbling at the base of this spout or foaming over?

The instructions tell you to open the flow once its running and adjust the bubbles accordingly. If I open the flow valve, immaterial of how much air is being pumped into the unit, the water pours out of the spout and into the collection cup which is obviously wrong. The more air I put in, the lower the water lever in the conical spout....

I am assuming that we want to have the water level at the bottom of the conical spout with the bubbles gradually rising up the spout and into the collection cup?

Sorry if I'm being really dumb about this!!

Skimmer Problems? #8
Ihave installed a V2SKIM 300 Compact on the side of my new 155L tank currently have a huge amount of mirco bubbles pooring out from the output pipe. I have put the foam ring around it but they still poor out the bottom (unless I shut the air off to the unit) and I didn't know if its because its a new tank, only a few days old and there is nothing to skim, or if I have simply set the thing up wrong. Does anyone have any experiance of setting this model up that might be able to offer any advice?
