Aquaone 620 - Any recommendation for changing filter media? #1
Hi All.

My Aquaone 620 uses the default internal trickle filter (2 bays filled with, ceramic noodles covered by sponge and then carbon pads on top).
I want to do away with the carbon as I feel I no longer need this.

Has anyone else got one of these tanks and if so what have you done and what would you advise with regards to modifying the standard filter set up?

Thanks in advance.

Cleaning Gravel and Decor #3
Hi All

Quick Question, How often does everyone clean their tank decorations?
I have rocks and bogwood in my tank. These tend to get covered in Algae (not a great deal but enough to look grubby). As a result I usually scrub the rocks once a month and the bogwood every 3-4 months.

Can anyone recommend a good holiday fish food?
I am going away for a week and unfortunately do not have anyone who can feed them in my absence.

Need to rehome some Mollies #5
Hi All

I am looking to re-home my black Mollies.
I have 1 male, 1 pregnant female and 4 youngsters (2 months old).
Would anyone like to have these before I ask my local LFS as I would rather give them go to a good?
I live in South Birmingham.

Again - probably conflicting advice but I was told that running it constantly would promote algae growth!
Would you run it 24hrs a day or turn it off at night?

Re: What constitutes good water quality? #9
I do have an airstone but tend not to run it unless needed.
Although I feel I get good surface agitation from the hood trickle filter, would it be a good idea to run the airstone say for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening (usually around feeding time)?

Re: What constitutes good water quality? #10
Thanks LHG.
I think I just needed reassuring that my water is ok. When I lose 3 fish in 3 weeks I start to get paranoid!
The problem I find is that you can read so many different articles on the internet and all give you conflicting information and this even applies to advice from LFS's.
