Re: Do Corydoras play dead? #1
Oh yes they do. It's a game called lets make the owner freak out.
They lay perfectly still on there side or back and if possible drift in the current for extra effect and then when when you get close with a sad/shocked face they spring away to the friends and have a good laugh about you.

Mine do it all the time, the little #OOPS#s. :)

Re: All fish gasping some twitching. #4
Just checked them this morn and they look fine now i have air stone on max output, I also think the water had dropped to lower temp than they like over night and it was a combination of things.

With fin rot how fast should the tattered end repair them selves?

As all the meds i have are water life a bought some contraspot yesterday as a back up seem to cover a fair few problems.

Cheers for advice.

Re: All fish gasping some twitching. #5
ammonia 0
nitnite 0
nitrate 5
ph 8

they seem to be a little better now tbh, I turned the air pump on to max.

The tank has meds in and i noticed something strange, I use a syringe to put water into test tubes and when i squrited some back into the tank it created a millions of tiny bubbles that stayed in the water for some time instead of the usual larger bubbles that rise very quickly. I medicated thurs eve so would a large 50% or so water change help at all?

All fish gasping some twitching. #6
Came down this morning and all of the fish are gasping/breathing really fast and 3 twitch slightly every now and then like they have hic-ups

i have 5 corys, 1 neon rainbow, 2 swordtails, 2 neons and 1 polka dot dora.

I have had problems as posted in another thread and thought i had sorted that out.I had an ammonia spike for 2-3 days where i water changed 25% every day to get it down which it now is.
All readings are normal and i have air pump running 24/7 temp is 24C but does drop a fewC during the night.

2 swords were looking a bit finrotted so i dosed again with waterlife's finrot treatment.

The neon rainbow, 2 neons and 1 polka dot dora are all older but new to me. I promised to take a tank from a lady at work but at last min she said i had to take the fish as well, when i got there she had the tank washed out and fish bagged up so they had to go in the main tank pronto.

the neons and rainbow looked a bit twitchy but i thought it was just change of enviroment.

Re: First death and boisterous swords #8
Thanks for that

I thought it was just the bullying at first and I think thats when I should have started treatment but i just didn't know any better as i've only kept fish for about 4 months so am pretty green still.

Re: First death and boisterous swords #9
Well, its over. The poor little chap was no more when i came home from work today.

Thanks to everyone for there advice, I'm sorry if i seemed like i wasn't listening at times. I was taking note of what was said and i did try the flexibacta treatment but i dont think i made it clear in my posts.

I have also made a problem for myself in that in trying to feed Oscar up i have created an ammonia spike and am doing daily water changes to try and rectify this.
