Really, over heat. Never thought of that. I'd assumed the water would allow them to cool down. I've been considering getting a small plastic pond, that I could easily stick behind the shed through the winter and just use it during hot spells. Will have to look at the garden for a shaded area.

Anyone else on here kept Terrapins before?

Hello everybody, not been on here for a while
I rescued a terrapin some time ago and am in the process of making its home as suitable as I can, but with this recent very hot weather. It got me thinking, about having maybe a temporary home outside. Something where the terrapin wouldn't be scared but would make use of the hot strong sun shine to bask in.

Any suggestions? I did user a clear box full of its tank water at one point, but he just didn't look happy in it.

It was given off of a friend. It is working, I'm just thinking something is clogged somewhere as the filter doesnt' seem to be as strong as I think it should be.

I have a small marine tank, with an intergrate internal filter built into it. Now the tank isn't being used as a marine tank as such as present.

But I dont feel the filter is very strong, I think it needs a good strip down and maintenance. BUt I have no understanding of how these work.

Is it possible to strip it down and get to the pump? I have emptied the compartments and just found different filter material, but no moving parts,.

Any advice?

I cant keep putting it off, I think I need to think of the fishes best interests here and I've decided to call it a day. Cant quite bring myself to flog the fish/tank on ebay just yet, as I'd like someone with some know how to take the fish on! So I'd like to offer either just the fish for free, or the fish and tank, for a small fee to a member of FK. As a couple of the fish I have had for many a year and I'd hate for someone to kill the fish off in a week!

I live near Gainsborough, if anybody is interested.

If not I shall have to risk ebay and hope someone with some knowhow wins the auction!

BUT, we had a healthy baby boy Thursday Morning
My Fiancee went into labour about 10pm Wednesday night and 10am thursday morning he was born
I ended up not having any sleep for about 40 hours! for one reason or another. Almost caught up on things, and baby Harry-George Earl, is doing well.

Only very briefly popped on line tonight. Will update pics of baby and of my tank and will read in depth your comments.
