Food options #1
Hi All.
Just a quick question....has anyone out there ever uses seaweed sheets in their tanks as a food variation. ?
I understand some fish love it, but I would just like to know if anyone's actually tried it and did it go down well.
Thanks in advance

Re: Substrate cleaning #2
Hi
Thanks for the reply, I have tried a net, but unfortunately it removes too much sand at the same time, I will keep experimenting and let everyone know if I come up with a solution

Substrate cleaning #3
Morning, hoping someone can pass on some advice, I am using sand as a substrate and it gets cleaned on a regular basis, I am able to clean most of the waste, however the heavier waste doesn't travel through the syphon and tends to drop out again...anyone out there got a solution for removing the heavier debris...thank you

Re: Need some help with my fish in cycle. #4
if its any help I have a 406 filter unit on a 48 x 18 x 15 tank and it took just over 11 weeks for the cycle to complete, well worth the wait as fish seem very happy and full of activity

Re: fishless cycling #6
Morning.

Ammonia is now around 2ppm, have turned the heating down.

My PH is 7.2

Oxygenation should be fine as I'm using a spray bar with plenty of surface agitation.

Using API test kit for KH and GH

Thanks for the advice will see how it goes over the next week

Re: fishless cycling #7
I have the following:

Water temp 30
Ammonia 3-4 ppm
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
KH 76.1 ppm
GH 53.7 ppm

I realise it takes time but even the ammonia level has only dropped below 3ppm once.

fishless cycling #8
well.
I have just started week four of the fishless cycling and so far have had no indication of anything happening lol.

Started with 3-4ppm ammonia and have only had to top up content once in 4 weeks.

Is this normal ?

Re: Painting the back of your tank #9
Hi all.

Bough some crafters acrylic black water based paint ( 236ml ) and did four coats on a 48" x 18" panel, and still have nearly half the tube left.
Applied with a mini roller the end result if great, no more waking up and finding an annoying air bubble lol

Re: Painting the back of your tank #10
Never even thought of using emulsion...going to stick with the original selection of water based acrylic..all being well it should turn out ok. Will post a pic when its done.

Thanks to all for the advice
