Re: ill Bat Fish!? #1
Hi

sorry to hear about the health of your bat fish....to be honest i know nothing really about these but i think your probably right with it being a swim bladder problem, they do act funny from times to times when feeling in danger but that normally means they lie flat and wave there fins...wierd but i spose its some kind of defense!! I know that has nothing to do with your problem so i hope you get the answer soon and you can have him back to full strength soon!!

Re: Clowning Around!! #4
Sounds like a spine-check anemonefish, maroon clownfish to me, (premnas biaculeatus)

Description the body color is red to brown-red and has three bluish-white bands, which are sometimes in-complete.the bone structure is also different to other clowns as it has two spines under, one under each eye and the scales are smaller.

it is a fairly aggressive fish that will not tolerate another anemonefish in the same tank, easy to keep and takes most foods including flakes.

hope thats a bit of help.....and i also had one of these last year and i have to say.....there lovely fish to have

I have however heard good evidence to say that barbed hooks are safer for the fish, as it stops it from turning and causing alot of damage to the fish, wheather its true or not i dont know.

I wouldn't of thought that was true....talking from experience from having a hook caught in my bottom lip!!! lol i would of much preferred a barbless one then i wouldn't of had to go to hospital to have it out the problem with barbed hooks are when they go in they don't come out and alot of anglers(not me) just tug on them to rip em out doing the fish more damage then they would if they used barbless which would just slide out!

Re: Who Goes Fishing here? #6
I would imagine so yes,

I tend to use barbless hooks for most of my fishing now days.....just for the fact it doesn't harm the fish so much and easier to unhook them without doing them damage.

Re: Who Goes Fishing here? #7
I've been a fishermen for about 15yrs now and still enjoy every trip as much as the first.... not to keen on the winter months but i try to get out as often as possible i mainly fish beaches and rivers but i have done a few seasons on the lakes! its a great Hobie to have and doesn't cost to much after you get all the gear....just need to make time to gather info and collect your bait.
