MT Snails #1
OK anyone know the best way to eradicate Malaysian Trumpet Snails from my 190L tank without ripping it apart and using some kind of nuclear device? i have so far been picking out the ones i can see and dosing with eSHa Gastropex and have not seemed to have reduced numbers at all I have followed ALL dosing instructions to the letter and even tried Double dosing without much success. After & bottles (10Ml each ) iI have come to the conclusion that this stuff is next to useless or MTS are bomb proof Any help please ???

Re: Disappointed with LFS's #4
Its a sad fact that there will always be people in the pet trade that dont keep their charges in the way we as owners would like They see them only as a means to an end to earn money I always look closely at any such establishment from a welfare point of view and will quite happily pass over any stock i feel is substandard informing the seller as to why he will not get a sale i can only hope that if others do the same they will up their game or go broke

Re: albino cory upside down #5
Your not far from me so your water will be about the same as mine for Nitrate Kh Gh Ph etc. RO ( Reverse Osmosis ) water is available from most good local fish shops and is free from any minerals so totally pure It cannot be used on its own as it has nothing in it to sustain life so must either be mixed with tap water or re mineralised to suit the conditions you want I live near to ware so if you need any help PM me and i will give you some contact detail;s

Re: albino cory upside down #6
Where in Hertfordshire are you My tap water has 35-40ppm Nitrate so i have to dilute with RO every time Also KH and GH are very high in this area again another reason i use RO dilution for my Corys As others have said here API liquid test kits are the way to go for accurate water tests

Re: Disappointed with LFS's #7
I have to say that Both my local Maidenhead Aquatics are now my preferred place to buy fish ( Enfield and ST Albans) The latter being lager and more extensively stocked The fish always seem to be in good heath and i have yet to have one get sick or die The staff are also very helpful and will ask about tank conditions before selling fish and give good advice As you are only in Essex you might want to give them a look one weekend if you fancy a drive out

Re: Fluval external filters #9
Not sure if the 05s ansd 06s are the same but a quick scour on fleabay should get you any parts you need I would think that the pair running together should filter your tank ok depending on what you are keeping

Re: What is this snail? What do they eat? #10
They look like Nerite snails They live in fresh water but need brackish water to breed They feed mostly on algae I dont know to much about them but i do have them in my fresh water tanks from what i have experienced they dont seem to damage the plants Hope this helps
