It's a fact that some Cory are more playful than others. Peppers will go mad in almost any flow rate and enjoy a mad life. Others will always enjoy the quiete life. On my tank I have 2 external filters with a spray bar (240lt) and all my Cory are happy. Cory can sometimes take along time to settle so bear this in mind and let the tank settle.
I have 4 horse face loaches, two of them potter around quite normally but my other two have struck up a relationship with my Cory's . They only disappear when really spooked and prefer to spend time slobbed over, under the said Cory's . A truly fantastic relationship.
Re: Sponge Air Driven filters - back up for power cuts?
The key to not losing fish is simply do not touch the tank and cross fingers. I went in total 18 hours or longer without losing any fish. Disturbance of water accelerates loss of temp. So think carefully.
Yep I agree with Fishlady, unless you have a huge tank. I do keep two species Sterbai and Pepper Cory . Yes they mix happily but they do seek out their own kind. I have six Sterbai and eight Pepper Cory . Beyond this any other species would need a huge tank and lots of careful balance.
right I've come out fighting ! The ball of dead fish were actually all still living, only just but they were still there, queue water changes ammonia locking (just in case) two big external filters running to the max and lots of tears and all I have ended up losing is one very elderly neon tetra. I know it is still early days, damage to biological media for example but as the saying goes where there's live there's hope. Only had fish friends for three years but I have learnt so much.
