Re: The Black Koi #1
Sadly the babies are not koi they are goldfish. They are not worth anything really but you may be able to offer them for rehome on Facebook pages and such.

Re: Outdoor Switch Box #2
I always found Blagdon switchbox's awkward to internally wire up.

I use Yamitsu switch boxes, there not very expensive, easy use and do the job quite well. I'm not sure they do a five way though, they do a 4.

Re: The Black Koi #3
Are you sure they are koi? Is there any goldfish in the pond. Do you have any pictures?

Re: Advice on best pond filtration #4
If you want a decent filter for the size pond you have you would have to look into investing a decent ammount of money in a quite serious filteration system.

Im assuming you're keeping koi in the pond? This makes a big difference as koi produce larger volumes of waste compared to goldfish.

I personally find sponge filteration much more effective than the likes of nexus style filters and K1/bead media.

Pressurized units are great for smaller ponds but yours is slightly too large therefore I would be inclined to go for an OASE Screenmatic unit due to the ammount of room the benificial bacteria has to thrive in. If you have a read up on the unit about ease of maintainace etc (15 mins ish clean every 2-3 weeks without having to get your hands covered in ****)The units come in 3 sized 12,18, & 36. You would most likely want the 36 (It has 36 big blocks of sponge inside).

I would suggest for a pond your size in direct sunlight you would need at least 55 watts of UVC, that works out at 1W per 63 Gallons its recommended 1W to every 70Gal at the very max so 55W would manage the job.

Although not cheap an oase screenmatic 36 and bitron 55w UVC would have your pond spotless year round, with very little maintaining.

If you have anymore questions or need any help feel free to ask as much as you want.

Re: Pond Fountain advice #5
OASE do another option that could be perfect for you if you do not want to worry about the building of a tower in your pond.

Its called the Water Startlet 5 Jet, really neat piece of kit and a real customer favorate, comes with 5 lights built in too!

(You would have to place in the middle of the pond and fix with wire or something)

EDIT: Your planned pond is rather small and like 2010 said you will have to be careful to not empty the pond, but im sure i can remember the startlet having ajustable flow rates but i will have to double check that tomorrow.

Re: Too many fish #6
To enhance colour you could always change your diet to something like Aqua Master Colour, but usually with goldfish they will change in time but sometimes they will just stay black.

Re: Sturgeon disaster #7
Before you added the Sturgeon to your pond/holding tank had it been treated with anything that contains copper? Sturgeon can be quite sensitive to copper it might be worth getting hold of an API Copper test kit and checking the results?

Re: Oase pump dead again #8
Oase really are the only way to go with pumps, I work in a shop that specialises in ponds, although expensive the amount we actually get returned to us compared to cheaper brands is over half.

Re: Bi orb #10
She found the box its the 60L so its going to be quite a bargain at just ?30 and the big bonus of me saving the 5 goldfish from what is presumably fish hell.

I will just take the fish into work and put them in a QT tank.

I'm going to strip the tank clean it and re set it back up as a red cherry shrimp tank where hopefully I can get a breeding colony going :)
