Re: Can prime water conditioner go 'off'? #1
Thanks cathie, the flashing was noticeably worse after a water change and i'm ashamed to say ive been lax in checking the ph levels when i do my weekly tests so the ph could have fluctuated without me noticing. I used to check it regularly because i started to use an aquaworld nitrate remover to reduce my high tap nitrate and was worried incase it altered the ph level but it never wavered from its usual level of 8 so ive only been periodically checking but i'll check on a weekly basis again from now on.

Ok thanks, just trying to find an explanation for the flashing and finrot i test the water regularly ammonia and nitrite are always 0 and nitrate never goes above 20, things are fine in the tank now but was just curious as to what happened to cause the problems in the first place.

Can prime water conditioner go 'off'? #3
One of my goldies recently developed fin rot in his tail and i noticed most of the fish were occasionally flashing against the gravel especially after a water change, i tested the water and all parameters were great as they usually are and i couldn't find an explanation as to why i was having these problems. I decided to change the prime for a new bottle as i'd had the one i was using for approx 8 months (can't see a use by date anywhere on the bottle) after a few extra water changes using the new prime the fin rot cleared up and all the flashing has stopped, so i was wondering if the prime water conditioner was too blame and it had gone 'off'?.

Re: Bionitratex + Aquaworld nitrate remover = Nitrate sorted #6
I use the aquaworld nitrate remover and have hard water ive never encountered a problem, ph in the tank is always the same i do leave the prepared water to stand for 24 hours before using so maybe that allows for the ph to return to normal level?

Re: Worried about oranda #8
I've has this particular fish for 14 months and she hasn't had a problem with bloodworm before so not sure that's the cause i'll give the garlic a go thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Worried about oranda #9
No she doesn't gulp at the top when feeding, i only feed sinking food soaked for a few minutes in tank water and all the fish get a variety of blanched veg courgette, broccoli plus bloodworm and daphnia on occassion.

Re: Worried about oranda #10
Hi Kev123, yes ive tried fasting and feeding peas, she's pooing normally so don't think constipation is the problem.
