Questions on tank cycle #1
So I have my tank all set up (For about 2 weeks now)

I have added some cycle starter and the ammonia levels are now high (after adding it over 3 days) about 3.5ppm

I also have some algae growing on the glass.

So next steps.....
Monitor until ammonia goes down and nitrite goes up??
Can I scrape the algae from the glass or should I leave it?
When should I do partial water changes?

Thanks for any advice

JP

Re: Has anyone got the aquamarine 900??? #2
I have joined the 900 club

live rock just gone in

not happy with the marisys 240 filter which I find very noisy (please see my other thread re finding a silent filter). The set up has been fine and not had any problems with it - it's just noisy

will post pics at some point but guess u are sick of empty 900 tanks-lol

All hairy crabs = bad news??? #3
Just got my live rock and there is a hairy crab. Reading the forum most people banish them to the sump. My one looks green and has hairy legs

my question is are they always bad and why?

I have a marisys 240 currently so don't have sump

thanks in advance

Looking for a silent filter system - advice please #4
Hi

first let me say hello - lots of good info here - been lurking for a while :)

I'm the proud owner of a aquamarine 900 (175 lts) and it came with a marisys 240 filtration system. This is very noisy and I'm getting pressure to change it to something that does not make any noise (the wife)

Tank just got it's live rock so want to get the new filter soon so it's there during the cycle process

looking for suggestions please

thanks
