all i can find on lind via google is Rumor and hearsay just wondering if this is actualy true or if sombody had some genetic mutations and then bread thoes mutstions to create a line of all powerful supper bettas (sorry going off on a comic book thinkg there) if anybody has any info on any of this i'd be intorested to hear it
Just curious realy i'm new to the fish thing having only kept goldfish when i was younger but had no intrest in them so it was all left ti my oldman to do feeding cleaning etc. i think if time space and money were all on my side then i would consider keeping some but a hell of a lot of reading beforhand they look to be a handfull.
also read reports of them becming spooked and cracking the tank that they are in (thats an expensive mistake if your fish cracks the tank)
I'm just looking at differnt species and i remembered the cheesy b movie piranha and thaught i'd have a look see and they are facinating wouldnt have the room for a tank to house even 3 of these animals i know what you mean i saw a couple of vids on youtube where the piranha are bed fancy goldies and mouse rats and other small mamals it is impressive the way that they attack almost play with the "prey" befor consuming it and it is sickening the way that a person willingly keeps fish just to feed to the piranha. if i had a zoo i might consider having a huge tank for some of these. i'll send LHG a pm about the subject should be a good read his reply.
Well i found some info looks like they are a bit of a nightmare requiring lots of space some saying 30gal per fish others saying 100gal per fish. all say that they need feeder fish guppies and other livebearers for the smaller fish and fancy goldies and similar sized fish for the larger fish others say dog/cat food and all say how messy they are requiring daily cleaning of food remains and then 25-50% water changes weekley to keep the nitrAtes in check.
but they seem loved by many and there is lots of advice out there ( i spelled it wrong so i couldnt find any oups)
Looking at piranha's on the old tinternet and cant seem to find any sort of care sheet advise i saw a fantastic shoal in my LFS then they fed the fish they went nuts does anybody know what kind of water they like diet requirements, habitat (wet obviously) and you put them with other fish or do they just kill and eat whatever goes in the tank?? how is the cleaning done?
Re: What fish tank shall I have? and fish help.
my first stock list after some "good" advice from pets at home was apaling i had 8 neon tetra my betta a red tailed shark 6 guppies and was looking for a plec all in a 40 ltr tank i only have my betta left now all the rest are in a better place(s)
the only reason that the cory's are in the tank is to keep my betta company he swims round like he owns the place now but when i removed the rest of the stock he just sat on a plant or hid by the filter, as soon as i introduced the corys he perked up no end.
Re: Cloudy Tank ... I just can't get it right :-(
slap me if i'm being silly but if you are cleaning and cahging large amounts of water then could the cloudy water be from un disolved O2 in the water? i know my water takes a couple of days to clear after a <10% water change.??????
