Re: Female Dwarg Gourami In Trouble. HELP #61
Hi fish lady,

I've just tested gh and gh and am shocked by the results.
from the tap
Kh 8
Gh 14

I'm not sure if this is because its a weekend though?
Ph is more like 7.2 and that is after 24hrs but the site only let's me put either 7 or 7.5

From the tank
Ph 7.2
Kh 7
Gh 12

How can my water have changed soooooo much since dec/jan?

I use prime conditioner its not poss to check the Ph after its gone though nitrate remover now but I tested it last water chane and Ph was the same.

Cud the new found hardness b the problem?
Best Regards

Re: Female Dwarg Gourami In Trouble. HELP #63
Sadly I was too late. She died

I had an airstone already running already and I was using Esha 2000.

Very upsetting have only had the fish a few months and there dying I'm fearing the worse for the cherry barbs too as they still appear stresses and I have no idea why

Female Dwarg Gourami In Trouble. HELP #64
I'm currently treating my now 7 Cherry Barbs for fin rot, who despite still being very shy and not really eating seem to be getting better.

My NEW Problem:-

My Dwarf Gourami seems to be unable to keep herself afloat, she sinks to the bottom if she doesn't swim and is currently resting on a plant not really moving.

She also seems very bloated

What could be wrong with her???????

What should i do????

Since writing she is now on the bottom on the tank 'breathing heavily'
Best Regards

Re: Fin Rot Problem HELP! #67
Yes i do use a Nitrate remover the one from Shirley as you rightly noted.

I tested it last time i put the water in and it is still reducing it to 0ppm

I use it EVERY time and no i never mix it with tap water.

I've just re-tested for Nitrate and it is showing 10-20 i cant tell the colour difference but def NOt 40ppm.

Re: Fin Rot Problem HELP! #68
Hi

PH 7.6
PH High 7.4
Temp 26

Ornament wise there isn't anything that would cause them problems
The Cherry Barbs did use to chase each other round but haven't since the Fin rot started.

Cleaning the gravel - I don't move the ornaments to which there are 3 2 of which the fish can get under - should i take them out to clean?

I have found a better technique - i changed the end attachment and this has made it easier for me so should improve

I don't use a carbon filter so thats not a Problem

My stock is:-
8 Cherry Barbs
4 Otos
1 Female DG

only the cherry barbs seem affected all the others are lively and eating normally

The CB's are just hiding all the time now, not really interested in anything. They do eat but not as much as they did.
Best Regards

Re: Fin Rot Problem HELP! #69
Hi All,

I'm now on the 2nd Course of myxazine (day 3) and the fin rot problem doesnt appear to be getting any better. It is still only affecting the cherry Barbs thought.

All have it on there tails and some even on there top fins now so it appears to be getting worse if anything.

My water Params are

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10 or 20

Please help as they dont really seem to be interested in food anymore either and they used to wait at the surface for it twice a day!
Best Regards
