I second the recocmmendation for the 2224. I have the thermofilter equivalent of the 2224 running alongside a 2222 in my 200l tank and it performs as well as you could want. The 2222 has been running for five years and I see no reason (touch wood) it won't continue to do so. In actual fact come to think of it I had the 2222 running a 120l tank when I first got it and it performed admirably there, too.
Hi all, the little tiddler has now been moved into the main tank. The existing four rams came over to investigate initially, then soon got bored of the new comer and retreated back to the other side to continue with their own petty dramas and squabbles. They're like a bunch of teenagers!
So here he is at the grand old age of 8 weeks (free swimming). 9 since he hatched. Just before I scooped him out and plonked him in his new home.
He's stupidly cute :) Main tank is quite well planted, see this picture, pretty poor quality snapshot though.
Size, he's about an inch from head to tail. Biggest mouth in the tank belongs to the alpha male Bolivian, so I guess he should be OK? I might leave it a week or so, get him fattened up a bit more maybe.
Had a really bad week with this Bolivian, for an inexplicable reason he seemed to be struck down with some sort of illness, I couldn't possibly figure out what it was. He became more or less incapable of swmimming, spent most of the time laying on the side and although it was sporadically trying to eat it didn't seem to be having much success at all. Water parameters all measured out as tip top, no ammonia, nitrite and nitrates at 5. The grow-out tank is 30% water changed every day, ph is 7.4, gh 8, kh 6, water is from my own RO device mixed with a bit of tap. I eventually dosed the tank with Esha 2000 daily for three days and with no sign of any improvement I'd more or less given up on him as he seemed to be wasting away in front of me. Then on day 5 I came home from work to find him swimming about as if nothing had happened. Two days on and he continues to be fine so fingers crossed he is over whatever it was.
I can only echo the previous sentiments on your awesome photography. They're beauiful little fish, and by God 115 of them. I was going to say that'll be a handful to deal with but handful doesn't seem to do it any kind justice!
