Re: HELP the dreaded blanket weed #32
hi
found a real good way of getting blanket week out of the pond, a 49p toilet brush from Wilko's, one of the round headed ones and there is no danger of damaging the lining. u just place if over where the blanket weed is and then turn the handle slowly and the blanket weed gets ravelled around the bristles and as u turn slowly lift up and it pulls it out of the plants.

Well it works for me.

regards

Re: cant be right, can it? #35
HI

my pond is a 1000 litres which i agree isnt big, but ive just had goldies for the past year and they give endless fun, go for different coloured goldfish ive got 10 and they have all got different markings, which make them look like smaller koi and a lot cheaper.

i was offered koi babies and turned them down, stick with goldfish mate and u wont go far wrong.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #36
Hi all

poorly fish seems totally healed on back, can hardly tell where the marks were. they are all swimming nicely in the new depth but boy r they getting fat, 3 of them waddle when they swim, cant believe how big they have grown in a year, from being one and half inch tddlers they are about 4-5 inches now (in a year). must be how i talk to them in a mornig when no one is about.

Re: Herons #38
HI

best thing ive found is a machine gun from an old world war two churchill tank that me dad brought home from the war one day.

only joking!!!!!!!!!

i have a heron problem in our area, all the neighbours like me have to rely on nets and fake herons and lights and dogs and on and on. Plus a neighbour of mine lost a fish to a kingfisher last year.

the battle continues

Re: koi that lies down!!! #40
HI

this wont help but just to let u know u arent alone in having a Koi that likes to fool u. A neighbour of mine that has kept Koi for years has one Koi that does exactly wot yours does, and it's been doing it now for nearly 3 years, this one also floats in the water standing up for hours on end, then when he gets the net out to check he swims off and does a lap of the pond.

said it wouldn't help but just thought id mention it.

Sa,
