New tank on fishless cycle " help " #33
hi everyone , im currently on fishless cycle and all is going fab and just waiting for the nitrites and nitrates .... however i seem to have algae growing on some plants and rocks ?? is the normal ?lights are only on for an hour or 2 and its not in normal light as it is in an alcove so no sunlight.

should i keep the algae in situ and buy algae eaters .... if so which is best small catfish / plec/ loach to purchase ??

or should i kill it off and HOW ?

powerhead #35
hi ......i have 250 litre tank with 1000 l/h powerhead and its creating a lot of turbulance in the tank !!! how can i slow this down as there no adjuster switch etc on the unit.

i am using this with a hood filter with Filter Media in place

there must be a simple solution to slow the powerhead suction down slightly so creating less movement ???

muchos gracias Geoff

hi again everyone.......my tank has finally arrived and had to put on hold for a week due to workin away.

it has an over head filter driven by 1200 l/h powerhead. does it matter in which order i place the bio balls . carbon and bio rings ?/ i have 3 compartments.

my god i feel such a novice !

Help !!! #38
hi Everyone ......So to cut a long story short my partner has bought me a tank for my 50th ....its been 30 years since my last fish keeping days and things have changed ! she thinks u just plug n go but not the case "!

so ive got a 250 litres unit with built in hood filter delivered yesterday ( what a suprise it was) very big i know but if ur gonna get a pressie make it a big one !

first of all ...tank cycling...which is best for my situation as it all a new set up ! my tank will have quite a few plants and rockwork......read some forums and not sure which way to go .....all comments greatly received

thanks Geoff
