Re: Sand #32
Thanks for the info. What is the big rock in the middle? Is that the sandstone? And also the tubes, where did you find them, they look brill and my shrimp would love them? When you say you glued them to the tank, I assume you meant the glass bottom?

Re: Sand #33
Thanks fishlady, that's great.

Not really related but I saw a post of yours in the chilids forum regarding substrate, you tank looked amazing! Where do you get the stones and shells that you used there, as is love to do something similar and also how do you clean it with all of that there?

Re: Sand #34
Thanks Fish lady as always.

So presumably aquarium sand can just b left alone, is that the compromise of using play sand?

Is sand easy to clean? I use the eheim vac at the mo, but I would assume it will suck all the sand up rather than clean it?

Sand #35
Hi guys,

I've finally bought a bigger tank and I'd like to have sand instead of Gravel.

The first question is will my current stock be ok with sand?

Secondly I think I've seen on here somewhere that I don't need to buy Aquarium sand, but I can buy a cheaper sand - I can't remember what sand this was though, was it just play sand?

Thanks in advance, time to look for future stock obviously once the new tank has settled!
Best Regards

Re: Plants #36
Hi Fishlady,

Thanks for that, one now on order

What does the Eheim Substrat Pro actually do? is that like the balls that are in internal filters? how often does it need replacing along with the wool?

Re: Plants #37
Hi again Fish Lady. I've found this that seems to be a good price, although it does have german plugs:

http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/fi ... ternal_filters/13352#more

It states that it doesn't come with 'Taps'. Having never used an external i'm not sure what these are?

Also I currently only use the Filter sponges, i know what the carbons for but i'm not sure about the Wadding. Do I need to use the white filter wadding? if so what does it actually do?
Best Regards

Plants #39
Hi All,

haven't posted in a while as everything has been going so well!

I'm wanted to make my tank more heavily planted and i'm just wondering if there is a limit to the ammount of plants you should keep in a tank?

i dont want excessive algae or the water turning green or anything.

Also i'm want to be fit an external filter as i dont like looking at the internal one - any recogmendations? i want to soon upgrade to a bigger tank so i need the filter to be able to cope with a 125 litre tank.

thanks in advance
Best Regards

Re: can any 1 identify this pls? #40
So.... Turns out the baby is a killifish! I only had them for a few days before I took them back because they were aggressive towards the barbs. Maybe this was why?

The baby is getting bigger by the day but I've noticed he has a big bend in his tail. Is this normal when there growing?
