Tank bits #262221
Hi

I've just bought a Juwel Rio 400, and am a bit confused over what I still need to buy.

eg Structured Background STR600: do I need three of these, or are there more than one in a pack ?

Reflectors: will I need these for coldwater fish and live plants ?
If so, do the clips come as well ?

Sorry for so many questions, but I can't wait to get started as it's too cold for the pond

Peter

Probably not! He doesn't seem to care much about anyone else and isn't usually very appreciative of what people do for him! But that's another story!

At least the fish are not dying which is the main thing!

Re: Heaters #262224
I was thinking that it must come in handy for things like when you should increase temp for treatment of things like fungus etc. Might get a little one, just not sure which? Does it matter? There's some on ebay.

always better to be safe than sorry, you could have a basic little 50w one have it on low say 70 it would only come on when its cold enough anyway

I have been told they are quite good, i use a basic hand held and suck job, (excuse me) and to be honest its as good as any, if you remove all fish waste and clean your gravel thoroughly then you will destroy helpful media and the compost for your plants. I so about 20 -25% weekly and hoover round everywhere mainly the service, now and again i do a more thorough clean but not often. di

Re: Heaters #262230
As Goldfish are cold/cool water fish they say you don't really need a heater in their tank especially as these days the central heating usually keeps it at room temperature I usually find though that the temperature drops through the night especially in the winter when the heating goes off, so that's when a heater comes in handy as it prevents the temperature from fluctuating and stressing the fish out, its down to personal choice at the end of the day
