Plant and fish noob #22
Hello,

I have gravel in my 5 gallon tank. I have two plant bunches that are hellbent on floating. Can I secure them to the ceramic ring they came in to weigh them down.. can I use a rubber band to secure them?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Helping my betta. In a bowl.... #23
The seachem prime is an excellent suggestion. I’ll give it a shot. Thank you!

I’m sure you’ll hear more from me as I work my way through cycling my tank. I’m just so excited for him to get to experience his new digs!

Helping my betta. In a bowl.... #24
My 5 gallon tank is still in the fish less cycle, I have nitrites starting but probably still a few weeks away from being able to move my betta into the aquarium. In the meantime, I’ve been testing his bowl water and doing partial water changes to keep him as comfortable as possible. As you can imagine, the ammonia builds up pretty quickly. Would dropping an Aqueon pure ball hurt him at all? Could it help? There are 2 moss balls and a rock with a plant on it in his bowl. So the bacteria would have a place to live I’m thinking.

Thoughts?

Add water during a fishless cycle? #26
I'm about one week into my fishless cycle and I noted the tank water is getting low.

Can I add de-chlorinated water without "resetting" the cycle? I'm just afraid to mess things up as today was my first day with no ammonia and some
nitrites...

Floating mirror for "exercise" of bettas #28
Have any of you seen those floating mirrors meant to "exercise" your betta? Is this a good idea even if only for 5 minutes?

Just curious if this is a gimmick or actually stimulates the betta in a GOOD way.

Re: Newbie Fish less cycling #29
thank you Fishlady for the response. I thought it may be more along the lines of 'some [ammonia] is good but more is not necessarily better'.

Re: Newbie Fish less cycling #30
BTW, i have. 5 gallon tank with live plants, heater, pump and filter. It’s the fluval series V setup. And I have an office betta patiently awaiting his new home. In the office and until this tank has cycled, this poor guy Is living in a 1 gallon bowl. 8-(
