Re: New Tank Setup - Fish Dying #21
Also I just noticed this is posted in the cold water section, not 100% sure but wont the fish need a heated aquarium especially in the winter months?

Re: New Tank Setup - Fish Dying #22
Just my input here, you can pick up a cheap more suitable tank from eBay even though it may be 2nd hand, it will be better than anything you could buy from P@H. Is there any other local fish stores near by? If so use them instead of P@H as there advice and customer service is that of a 3 year old. Although you can't believe everything a fish shop employee tells you, at the end of the day its about sales and without them selling you fish they wouldn't have a job but you can tell the ones with no clue or morals about the welfare of the fish a mile off. (99% of P@H employee's)

Here at least you will receive nice friendly advice about keeping fish correctly, without being talked down to. Let me tell you there must be thousands over the years that have been in the same boat as yourself over the wrong advice P@H have given you.

Most important piece of advice about fish keeping can be found here its all about looking after the bio side of things and letting the fish look after themselves ;) http://www.fishkeeping.co.uk/articles ... hless-cycling-article.htm

Give the articles section a look too, there's tons of information there :)

Oh BTW welcome to FK :) More people with advice will be along soon!

CB

EDIT: The article in the link has instructions for before adding fish, so don't actually add liquid ammonia to the tank, just read the article to learn about the cycle itself :)

Re: Plec Poop #23
Excellent will give the veggies a go, might even try some myself ;)

Thanks for all the great advice and I will be needing a poop buster or it will be a poop with a hint of sand substrate!

One last question what is the best all round liquid plant fertiliser?

Re: Plec Poop #24
Will grab a courgette from Tesco's after work tomorrow, I was wondering if I sliced it up and froze it then defrosted as and when I needed would this work, as I think if I bought them fresh I would waste at least half?

Also that Eheim in tank filter thing looks the business! I think I may have just found something for Santa to bring ;)

Will it still work with sand as substrate?

Suey is kindly sending me some MTS snails to mix up my sand, I've read in some places these eat poop, I also heard rams horn snails do too. In fact just a quick Google search gives you half of each answer ahah!

Plec Poop #26
All of my fish are now nice and happy in there new home, during the week I went to my LFS and they gave a large amount of sponge from there filter system, it seems to have cycled after only week after rehoming it!

Also I bought a new Jewel unit light and now the plants are perking up, got the new unit and 2 new T5 tubes for ?60 + A dragon goby and red tailed shark. I need to know a good value for money plant fertiliser?

Now to my main problem, Phil (The common pleco) is leaving very large stringy poo all over my sand, its a nightmare to keep clean and the filer is not able to lift and suck it up as there so big and heavy, I am using my vac to clear most of it but it takes time and effort. Is there any other way around this? If I get a load of snails eat it?

Thanks
