Re: O bubbles.... #21
Hi Cathie, I could do that but the tank isn't quite big enough for all 5 goldies anyway so if it had sprung a leak a bigger tank would be the better option. At least now I have a little time to get saving.

Suey glad it's probably only staining :), it just the loose stuff that is a worry now.

Thank you for your help n advice....
Sometimes just airing your worries, helps.

Re: O bubbles.... #22
Looks ok. Kitchen towel wasn't wet this morning... phew. But have had a really good look at the silicone and I think it won't be long before I have trouble :/, it's come away in places, green in others (cleaning doesn't get it off), and generally looks... Well.... Old. When I picked it up I didn't have a close enough look... Stupidly. O well am getting some quotes on custom made again and am hunting for a new tank so fingers crossed it holds out until I can get a new one.

Hi GK,
Not sure of make as 3rd hand :/, I'm hoping it is over spill. I noticed it when I was doing a water change, have put fresh kitchen towel down this morning so I can check when I get back from work a bit later. I worry because I don't know the age of the tank it may be the silicone deteriorating, I have decided to eer on the side of caution and start looking for a new tank.

Re: Tanked #25
I've been watching this too n do not enjoy it as much as I thought I would, like you say Cathie, it's more to do with the drama of things than the tanks n fish. Still nice to see the tanks they make tho....and yes u gotta b in the right frame of mind xx

Re: what else can i do.... #26
Hi Goldy,
Yes they have a heater n it's set to 21. They already had these streak n blobs when I got them, the condition of the previous tank was not good at all. The prev owners had only attempted to clean it for my visit I think :/. I have used both of those meds. Do you think it's worth doing another course? If so which one would be the better option?

Thank you for your reply, I know I don't come on this forum much (not enough hours in the day) but its good to know there is sound advice out there if its needed

what else can i do.... #27
Hello,
The newbie rescues are all still with me :) and are such fab little (OK not so little) beings. Their personalities are starting to come through and they are all fairly well. I have done a lot to help them become healthier but I am now stuck. 2 of the 3 fish have blood in their tails one has lines the other has blob like ones. I do all the usual things to keep them healthy and the water in tip top condition but this blood business is doing me head in. Is there anything else i can do?

I've had them now for 3 weeks and the change is remarkable. Even the upside down fish (yes he was bad) is only upside down for very very short periods usually after eating and he is mixing with the others too.

Could it be septicemia they have as it was mentioned at my LFS? If it could be how do I treat it?

I am going to get a larger tank after Christmas as my tank is short by quite a few litres as I now have five large goldies again (so much for keeping a smaller tank :O)but I haven't mentioned this to hubby yet :/ gonna have to find a good time to bring it up heehee, i'm hoping he won't mind.

Well off to do a water change n gravel clean (they had peas yesterday :0)

Haha Suey, Yes the force is strong .

now I've just gotta concentrate on getting the tank just right (as in size/style) again :/ and getting the new crew thru the first couple of weeks and back to health n happiness.

On day two all seems well in the tank the biggest one (who was upside down when I got her) is now upright, good ole peas :), looking much happier to.

I have started to add melafix to the water to help the healing process and hopefully catch anything if its lurking and I will be doing an extra water change a week as adding 3 large goldies = lots more poo :). Is there anything else I can do to help them and keep the tank in tip top condition?

Glad your fish are doing well and it sounds like you got your hands full lol but like you say soo worth it.x

Re: Hello, it's me again. #30
Hi guys, lovely to hear from you :).

Jon I'm glad Devon is doing well and growing good. The one I kept from that bunch hasn't grown a great deal but as he was one of the tiniest from that bunch I'm thinking he may be a runt (well if you can get fish runts!!). He can still eat for England tho lol. X

Hi Fishlady, don't think I could ever give up fish keeping again, no matter how stressed I get my fish (n beading) help me thru it. X

It's good to be back I hope all your fish are doing well? X
