hello again everyone #11
Hey everybody I would just like to say im back. The last 7 months have been really busy hence why I haven?t been on this website. I would like to announce i am now a married man and me and the wife will be moving into a 3 bedroom house in under a month so unfortunately my marine tank has had to take a little bit of a back seat. However the move has given me an excuse to spend lots of money on a major upgrade for when I have to move them over. This has only been possible because of all the information I have learnt on this site so what I?m trying to say is thank you. I am sure when it all go?s wrong you will see topic titled help!!! On the emergency section lol. If peeps are interested I will keep posting updates.

Persistant algae problems #13
Hey all

Im having constant algae issues and I have tried everything. I have a phosphate reactor and macro algae, I rinse my food in RO water, I have tested the ro water going in and its got no phosphates in it.

my test results are

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5-10
Ph 8.2
Kh 8
Mag 1410
Cal 430
Salinity 1.26
temp 27.5
Phos 0 (yea right)

Has anyone got any advice because im close to throwing in the towel.

Kieran

p.s test kits are API and salifert.

Re: HIPS #15
I no alot of people who aren?t happy or are worried about the future. The public sector is going to feel some pain im afraid.
There?s no escaping that the deficit has to be reduced (though its extent is hyped and sensationalized by papers like the mail and the sun).
Hips were not popular so im not surprised there gone. They cost something like ?300 i believe.
I seriously doubt people who have paid for them already will get there money back.

Re: Repealing "silly" laws #17
What they banned was hunting with hounds which is im sorry to say extremely cruel and completely ineffective at controlling fox numbers. They did it for fun and no other reason.
alot of people chose to ignore it to which makes me even more angry. how dare they think they are above the law. it would be completly different if i were to trespass on there estates and farms. the law would certainly apply then.

(steps off his soap box to go and have a cup of tea lol)

Re: Repealing "silly" laws #18
yes ive heard

they're pandering to the tabloids and there traditional voters to keep them on side for what?s going to otherwise be a hard parliament for them politically.
It?s purely political his reasons!!! The repealing of the hunting ban has made me very angry. As regards to the fish law he?s just exploiting people?s ignorance in fish care, its easy points for him really. Disappointing isn?t it.

There like that on a lot issues im afraid. its similar to the issue about speeding tickets being in unfair and stupid but with other low level crimes they demand the offender to be vaporized.
The staff room at work today was awash with this story. Funny how they all went quite when i can in for lunch though lol.( known at work as the fish geek).

i tell people that you cant pick and choose the law to suit you.
