Re: The day from Hell.. #12
The levels are fine now, Oddly. I added some stuff, and got Bacteria Boost. ill do a water change tomorrow before I go out of town But Im considering switching the Filter from the tropicals over to the Goldfish because The other tank is cycled and should be fine.. I dont know. *sigh*

But its fine now. I got a carbon insert for te Filter. I think its because there was a plant and it was dying and I missed a leaf or two because it floated to the back behind the Pots and plants *sigh* but Ill have my sister look after it. And I got Ammonia removier In case, And she knows how to add it.

Goldy- What kind of lettuce do you feed your fish? I got a few clips (One for each tank.) But I dont know what to put in them.. Or what they eat exactly. Mine havent touched my plants which is good, So I dont know.

Re: Poorly Blue Oranda going belly up! Help please? #14
Sounds like swim bladder to me. If you could, can you give us the size of your tank and the water Test results?

For now, Only feed them every other day, and If you have any peas, Fresh or frozen, take the skin off and cut them up. Feed them to the fish, that might help. (They love peas and it makes them poop!)

But if hes Spiraling it may be a bit late :/ Hopefully goldy or Fishy will be around soon because they know a bit more. Let me see if I can find you a link on it.

Also, With the medication you put in, Did you take out the carbon in your filter if you have any?

The day from Hell.. #15
Yesterday I cleaned myt Tank, and I was watching my Goldies and I look up and the Bigger ones yawning at me. I think "Oh s**t" and test it. Yup, the ammonias Super high, and my filters not working properly. *Sigh* So I Run and get some Tablets to drop it, Do twice the normal dose, (It says you can.) and then wait. I had already changed the water, 20%, Didn't want to stress them out too much.

I took the filter out, and Squeezed stuff from the other filter From my 40 gal. Into it. *Sigh* Thankfully, The levels are now fine again. I have to go to the petstore today and see if I can't get the Carbon Insert that goes in it- Because with out it, this filter is crap.

So the fish are fie, and happy, and none of them are dead. The live plants in there are thriving, but after that scare I may be picking up a few more just in case. *nods*

Re: Advice needed asap #16
Your best bet is to sit down and explain to your mom what size tank you need for the fish to be happy and such.

I love my plastic breeding Box. it floats, and such. And when the food sinks to the bottom, I just move it a bit and the other fish come and eat the left overs. Its genius. GENIUS!

Re: Right going to the shops on saturday #18
I have black widow Tetras, Two Albino and two black ones. They are fantastic. Personally for a biorb, Id get neon tetras, which are pretty, or the Guppys. Just make sure if you get guppys you get Males and females, (Two females for every male) or else the males will fight and you may end up with more dead fish.

Re: 3 Fantails dead within the hour...please help...New to the site #19
Bettas have character. My sisters Betta Challenges her Gator that is here bubbler in her tank. It also tries to fight the ammonia meter. I sit there and laugh at him, but hes so pretty, and yet, so stupid. ;)

They are good choice, they'd be happy, and They can fend for themselfs once the tank is cycled.

Start adding a pinch each day, it will decompose and the waste will start the cycle, which will grow bacteria to keep your tank safe. Once your tank is cycled, (Takes a few weeks, sadly.) You can safely add a few fish at a time.
