Help!!! my two year old just fed the goldfish strawberry! #12
Hi

I went into the living room and found my two year old had climbed up to the fish tank and he told me he "fed Goldie a teeny tiny bit of pink strawberry and he ate it all up"...is our goldfish going to die? I've checked the tank and there's no bits in the tank....HELP!

It's a fantail goldfish btw...

Hi Fishlady

so i done as you said, i dosed the usual amount of ammonia and today (longer than 12 hrs later) my ammonia reads 2ppm and nitrites read 1ppm.

My filter should have been able to deal with that amount of ammonia and it should have all gone back to zero if i was cycled right?

Was cycling just stalled to you think?

Thanks

Re: fishes cycle results ...confused.com #17
Hi

Ive been testing for ammonia every other day since and its always been at around 2ppm (or more), that was until two days ago it just went to zero. So i added more ammonia to bump it up to show 2ppm again.

I tested today and the ammonia is at zero again, so i tested for Nitrite and this is still showing zero. So i tested for Nitrate and this is showing between 20 & 30ppm.

Surely my tank cant be cycled in 4 weeks could it? Do i need to add more ammonia?

Thanks

Hi

So ive just carried out a test for Ammonia and Nitrites. My ammonia is saying about 3ppm still but my Nitrite has gone!

What do i do?

I bought two new plants yesterday and added them...could that of caused it?

Thanks

fluorescent tube lighting swapping to LED #20
Hi

I have a 50L aquarium with fluorescent tube lighting integrated in the hood. I'm doing a fishless cycle at the moment, and have a few plants.

I've noticed that although the tube lighting is covered with plastic they are becoming very hot. I was wondering if it's possible to swap them over to LED lamps instead? Not only am i worried about the heat but they are so expensive to run.

I asked in my local aquatics shop and they said i should buy a LED strip light that attaches on, but i don't really want to do that if i already have fittings for lighting built into the hood.

Has anyone had any experience of this please?

Thanks
