Guppy with Hexamita? #11
I've got a tank with 5 of my guppy fry in. 4 are not far off adult size now but one just sits in the same spot at the top of the tank and has stopped growing. Today, long strings of white lumpy pooh are coming from him. He doesn't have any physical symptoms, just that he isn't eating and the pooh thing. Would it be kinder to euthanise rather than try and treat him?

Seuss Cory (corydoras seussi) #14
I'd quite like a group of these little guys and they seem to be a strain that would tolerate my water parameters (according to the the article from this website). However, I've been reading around and some sites state a pH of between 6.0 - 7.5 whereas this site states up to a pH of 8?

Anyone know which figure is correct?

Re: absolute disaster #15
What a horrible read, I'm SO sorry you had to go through that. I have a panic now and again thinking about all the water in my tank and what would happen if....

I hope the fish make it and you sort things soon!

Best Wishes,

Mark

Recharging Pozzani Nitrate filter? #16
Has anyone tried to recharge their Pozzani Nitrate filter when it has expired? I'm assuming the material is the same as the JBL NitratEX, or at least it looks identical?

I had to chuckle when I went on to read pretty much what you have said. Especially regarding the female sword tails growing a 'cosmetic' gonopodium and sword. It was described as "a bit like when older ladies suffer hormone changes and grow facial hair"!!!

Female livebearers changing sex? #20
I felt quite sad this weekend. I went to my normal LFS to take another batch of guppies. This time I gave the adult females away to try and dwindle down and retire the 2x fry tanks. I got talking to one of the owners and he told me that all livebearer females can change sex in an all female environment. I've had a quick scout around and read differing opinions. He pointed out how you can tell when a male guppy and swordtail were once a female but said that platties are harder to distinguish. Is it really a possibility??

On a more positive note, I noticed a small tank of Neolamprologus multifasciatus!!!!

So I know where I can go for me shell dwelling cichlids when I need
