It could have ended so differenty! #11
I decided to do a spot of decorating last week in the kitchen so to save poor Aroon the betta from the dust and paint fumes i moved him into the spare room out of the way. The move went well put him in a small bowl drained the water out moved the tank filled it back up and popped him back in. All done in the space of 10 minutes. When everything was all clean and tidy again put him back. Did exactly the same put him in a small bowl drained the tank and set it back up again. All was well untill i turned round to put him back in to find he wasn't there,he had jumped out of the bowl and was on the floor.Even though it was only a matter of seconds by the time i got him in the tank he had lost all his colour and looked really bad. I turned the lights off till the next day hoping he would de stress and be ok. The following morning (sunday)he looked even worse. So with a heavy heart i got some clove oil on my way home monday. Got home to find the lill devil mooching aruond as if nothing had happened.. So while this tail could have soooooooo ended badly,he and i were very lucky. The point of this tail is that if you do have to move any fish please make sure that anything you put your fish in has a lid so they cant jump out, it may save your fish and save you from a near heart attack.

Re: Next week's Watchdog BBC 1 #14
Well have to say went to the P@H in oxford today and all i can say is what a transformation! Hardly any small pets for sale just 1 rabbit a couple of degu and a few hamsters. Not sure if they had anything else for sale earlier in the day but fresh food left in the pens. Have to say that the pens were lovely and clean compared to how i've seen them in the past. And as for the tanks, some had had a total makeover couldn't see 1 dead or dying fish and the tanks were spotless. Also the book that you can order from for larger tanks was where it could actually been seen and not just shoved out of the way.

Re: Betta decor suggestions! #16
How about a moss covered coconut shell? My guys love em 1 likes to chill out inside his the other 1 just sits on the top and chills out on on the moss. And they wont displace too much water.

Re: Next week's Watchdog BBC 1 #17
I was in my local P@H at the weekend (buying cat food not fish, even tho i did have a look) to over hear that there policy is that if you have had the tank set up for 3 DAYS then its ok to put fish in. Not 1 mention of putting it through a cycle, tank size food, or water requirement could have cried when the guy walked out with a 30 litre tank saying he'd be back in 3 days to pick up a couple of goldies.

Re: Cory eggs? #18
Thanks critch will definatly give it a go next time i have some eggs. Which won't be too far in the future if there behaviour tonight is anything to go by. Lots of chasing and tummy rubbing. Think i better put an air driven filter on the shopping list too. Thanks again.

Re: Cory eggs? #19
When i started rooting around i found more than i thought fungus eggs all stuck to my bogwood, plants and flame moss which is attached to 2 coconut caves. I moved all the fish and filter to a QT tank as there's no point in putting them through the stress of a treatment if they don't need it.
Will definatly get a turkey baster when i'm out next think that will be so much easier.
Thanks Violet another lesson learnt.

Re: Cory eggs? #20
Well unfortunatly the eggs didn't hatch in the end most got munched on by the betta and the rest got fungus so have started a 3 day course of esha 2000 to kill it off.
Shame it would have been nice to have some babies Maybe next time now i know what i'm looking for i can try scraping them off the glass and putting them into a breeding trap.
