Make sure the bottle is clean, DO NOT be tempted to use anything like an empty shampoo bottle  Drinks bottles are the only way to go  Cut the bottom off the bottle. Cut your tubing to size making sure it is long enough to reach from the bottle, out of the tank, down the side and into a bucket with a bit of slack to spare. Use plumbers tape or gaffer tape to attach some tubing to the top and hey presto - one gravel vac  The diameter of the tubing will affect how fast the water is removed so a medium diameter, about 10mm would probably be best. This one is possibly best for smaller tanks, for deeper tanks you would need a longer bottle and a wider tube. |
